“Jesus is Lord!”

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

In 23 days we will elect the President of the United States for the next four years, either President Trump for another four years or former Vice-President Joe Biden. We are told to worry. We’re told that all hell will break loose if the wrong one of them wins, even though I’m pretty sure neither one of them holds the keys to the doors of hell. We’re told, like we’ve been told so many times before, that this is the most important election in the history of our country. But it’s not.

We have nothing to worry about. Yes, we should be interested. Yes, we should care. Yes, we should be informed. But we have nothing to worry about. We already have a President. We have better than a President. We know the President’s President. The President’s boss. Romans 13 clearly states, “There is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” I seriously doubt that Jesus is intimidated by either Donald Trump or Joe Biden. Whichever one He allows to serve in that office we will be ok. We will pray for him and be subject to him.

But Jesus is your King. He’s your Lord. Call Him your President if you want. Whatever you want to call Him, He’s THEE Guy. So we say in our Catechism, “I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is MY LORD!”. He’s my Lord!
