“Hungry for the Bread of Life”

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

(This sermon was preached from an outline.)

1. Is hunger a joke? (North Korea, Venezuela)

2. Hunger is a serious problem, showing us something seriously wrong in the world.

3. We are hungry for something greater than food. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.”

4. The truth is that we are scared of being hungry. (Fasting teaches you to use hunger to turn to God in faith.)

5. The Israelites were hungry and wanted to turn back to Egypt rather than trust God.

6. The disciples of Jesus didn’t trust Him to provide for 5,000.

7. Life is more than food. John 6:35, “I am the bread of Life. He who comes to me shall never hunger and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”

8. Bread and water are constant reminders of Jesus, the living bread and living water.

9. Are you afraid of being hungry? Jesus – “Man shall not live by bread alone.”
