In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Martin Luther never wanted a church to be named after him. He wasn’t very happy that people were being called Lutherans. But it was one of those things that stuck and it made it easy to identify people and what they believed. “What do you guys believe? Oh, you’re Lutherans.”
Now skip forward 500 hundred years and go from Germany to here in American and we still have churches called Lutheran. But what does Lutheran mean now? Well, let’s do a little thought experiment. Let’s say there was no Lutheran. Maybe there never was a Martin Luther. Or maybe the Lutherans never got over here to our land. Where would you go to Church if there was no Lutheran? If it wasn’t an option?
